  • Pre-Wedding Pictures

Whilst visiting a couple of Kent Wedding Venues, we took the opportunity of meeting Maria and Kevin again in Dover for their pre-wedding pictures.  We enjoyed strolling around Russel Gardens, capturing some lovely images of Maria and Kevin as well as discussing final details of their Wedding in a few weeks time.Pre-Wedding Photo - Layer Marney Tower

  • Family Portraits

We photographed the Wedding of Paul and Sarah in 2008 at The Fennes Estate, Bocking, and they asked us recently to photograph the Christening of their daughter, Abigail.  Unfortunately, on the day we were already booked for Wedding Photography but we suggested a family portrait session the following day to mark the occasion.  It was a glorious morning when we arrived so we used the shade of the trees in the garden for some family pictures.  Abigail was a star, enjoying herself and allowing us to get some lovely images.Family Portrait - Colchester

  • Pre-Wedding Picture for Lauren & Brett

We met Brett & Lauren and Tilly, their dog, at Hatfield Forest recently for their pre-wedding picture and an opportunity to run through their Wedding details.  The weather stayed fine and we achieved some lovely pictures.  Lauren and Brett are getting married later this year at Gosfield Hall.Pre-Wedding Picture - Hatfield Forest

  • Engagement Pictures

It was nice to meet Helen and Stephen again, as the previous time was in 2009, when they booked us for their Wedding Photography.  We met at her Dad’s house for some relaxed pre-wedding pictures and are looking forward to their Wedding at Hedingham Castle in July.Wedding Photo - Hedingham Castle

  • Wedding Photography for Emily & Simon at Le Talbooth, Dedham

Emily and Simon chose the beautiful Maison Talbooth, Dedham, for their final preparations and Civil Ceremony.  After the confetti pictures the Wedding Party made the short journey to Le Talbooth for their pictures beside the River Stour.  We left Emily and Simon as they went to sit down for their Wedding Breakfast in the Restaurant.Wedding Photo at Maison Talbooth

  • Wedding Photography for Kerry & David – Three Rivers Golf & Country Club, Cold Norton

Kerry and David chose Three Rivers Golf & Country Club for their Wedding Ceremony and Reception.  After taking a few pictures of Kerry before her Wedding we left her to go Three Rivers, and take a few pictures of David and his Best Man.  Following the Wedding Ceremony we found a sheltered spot out of the strong wind for a few family group pictures.  Amazingly, Kerry’s veil stayed on during the afternoon, but to get some portraits of Kerry and David together, we were able to take some pictures inside Three Rivers.  After the Wedding Breakfast, we managed to capture a few pictures of the two of them by the lake, before the First Dance.  It was nice to meet David’s side of the family again after meeting them for the first time at David’s sister’s Wedding at Channels, Chelmsford, last year.Wedding Photo at Three Rivers Golf and Country Club

  • Wedding Photography for Claire & Tim at The Fennes Estate, Bocking

Claire and Tim booked us as their Wedding Photographers for their Wedding 18 months ago, at the early stage of their plans, so it was really nice to see everything come together for their Wedding Day. Our day started at home for the final bridal preparations, which were in full swing. Claire looked stunning, and her Bridesmaids looked radiant in their pink dresses.  We took some lovely images outside in the garden as the sun was shining, as well as capturing some pictures inside, which can be missed on a lovely day.  Following this we made our way to St Nicolas Church, Witham, where Tim and his attendants were carrying out their duties.  After the Church service a few family groups were taken in the grounds of the Church before making our way to The Fennes Estate, Bocking for the Reception. Guests enjoyed a relaxing in Drinks Reception and we captured some lovely informal pictures.  The relaxed Bridal Party shots provided much fun and laughter.  A few pictures of Claire and Tim around the beautiful grounds of The Fennes were taken before the Wedding Breakfast.  After taking some pictures of the Speeches, we captured the inside of  The Fennes with a few images of Claire and Tim in the various rooms before finishing with a sunset picture and the First Dance.  It was lovely to see so many familar faces at this lovely Wedding.Wedding Photo at The Fennes

  • BBC The One Show – A great piece of TV showing what we are not!

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011f69j/The_One_Show_19_05_2011/?t=2m05s

This episode of the One Show made me want to cry for the couples involved and then it made me angry on several counts!! The photography shown is simply dire, obviously we did not see all of it so a balanced judgement is difficult, we have to trust that the BBC were fair in what they showed and the couples all knew what they were booking.

Just because somebody calls themselves a ‘Photographer’ or a ‘Professional Photographer’ does not mean they are any good at what they do and not all clients understand what style of photography they really require. Do check that your photographer is qualified in ‘Wedding Photography’, as there is nothing to stop a qualified ‘Industrial’ or ‘ Medical’ photographer for instance, starting in weddings!

For many jobs these days you need to have qualifications before you start. Unfortunately ANYBODY can pick up a camera, call themselves a wedding photographer and potentially mess up somebody’s wedding . Weddings are a once only event for most people and need to be right despite all the pressure of the weather, time and 100 guests with a different agenda! !!

In the show the ‘photographer’ was not even dressed appropriately – I love my jeans but NOT at a wedding that is showing no respect

A little piece written in the 19th Centuary:-

“It’s better to have paid too much.

When you pay too much all you risk is loosing a little money.

When you pay too little you risk losing everything if what you bought is incapable of doing what you wanted”

Please make sure you know the difference between a £700 photographer and a £2000 photographer (and what you get for your money!) before you set your budget and wedding dreams. Make sure you understand the style that your photographer works in. There are some truly great photographers who work fully ‘Reportage’, ‘Photo-Journalistic’ or ‘Documentary’ style and do not do family groups, but for some it is an excuse for not arranging anything and them claiming it was ‘all natural’!

Although it guarantees nothing, we are proud to be Qualified Member of the two main bodies for Professional Photographers in The UK – The British Institute of Professional Photography & The Master Photographer Association, if your photographer is not at least a member of one of these it may be worth politely backing off!

  • Wedding Photography for Sam & Paul at Crondon Park, Stock

Wow, what an extra special day!  We have known Sam since she was two years old, so it was a real privilege to photograph her Wedding.  This was the hottest day of the year and David’s Birthday! After taking some getting ready pictures at Sam’s Parents’ house, we went into the garden, making use of a shady spot for a few family pictures.  Sam looked absolutely stunning!  As the Limousine arrived we left to go to Crondon Park and find Paul, Best Men and Ushers for some relaxed pictures.   After the Civil Ceremony we took Sam and Paul to the oilseed rape field for some relaxed, fun, Bride and Groom portraits, whilst their Guests enjoyed the Drinks Reception.  Allowing Sam and Paul time to mingle with their Guests, we were able to capture some lovely natural images of the day. Following the superb Wedding Breakfast and Speeches, a relaxed walk over to the Lake with the happy couple, in the evening sunshine, capturing some lovely moments, the evening party began.  Sam and Paul are a lovely couple and we were so happy to be a part of their wonderful day.Wedding photo - Crondon Park
