The Compasses Pattiswick

A new wedding venue in North Essex close to Coggeshall. The lovely country setting of the venue is ideal for a bespoke wedding Reception or other family celebration. The venue was previously a restaurant and has an excellent large kitchen, lounge, dining and dancing areas! The gardens have country views which will be ideal for our style of photography. It looks fantastic for our signature sunset wedding shots! The Compasses Pattiswick is run by a highly experienced wedding event organiser Paul Gooding, who we have worked with many times previously. We look forward to our first commission at this venue.

Layer Marney Wedding Photographer for Dana & Jim

Layer Marney was the chosen Wedding Venue for Dana and Jim’s Wedding last year. Dana was getting ready at Crowne Plaza, Colchester and that’s where we started our day. Lots of preparations were going on in the rooms where they were getting ready but everybody was enjoying themselves and everything was going smoothly. We took some pictures of the girls as they were getting ready. Finishing touches applied Dana and the rest of the girls got ready, Dana being helped by her Mother. Time was on our side so we had time to take a few pictures of them all once they were ready. These completed we then travelled to Layer Marney Tower. Jim was there with his Groomsmen so before too many of the Guests arrived we took a few pictures of them in front of the Tower. As the Guests arrived on the Layer Marney Bus we had time to take a few arrival shots. Jim, his Groomsmen and the Guests made their way upto the Corsellis Room to take their seats for the Civil Ceremony. Meanwhile Dana arrived in the Layer Marney Rolls Royce and after a couple of pictures met with the Registrars. The Civil Ceremony followed and once this finished Dana and Jim were given Champagne and taken for a ride in the car. It was a lovely day so the Drinks Reception was held outside and Guests enjoyed this in the grounds of Layer Marney. Arriving at the gates we took a few pictures of Dana and Jim before they walked up the path to the Tower. Their Guests walked towards the steps to see and greet them as they reached the top. Dana and Jim spent a little while socialising with their Guests before we took the requested group pictures. These went well and gave the opportunity to Dana and Jim to mingle a bit more. During the afternoon we took a mixture of fun Bridal Party pictures and informal pictures. Molly and Evie, the younger Bridesmaids had fun around the grounds and we were on hand to capture the pictures. For Dana and Jim’s together pictures we went to the Lake and Barn. We ended up with a great selection of pictures, well done Dana and Jim! Just before the Wedding Breakfast Dana and Jim were covered with confetti and they then proceeded into the Long Gallery for the Wedding Breakfast. The Speeches were before the meal and there was a tear in everybody’s eyes when Molly’s Speech was read. Molly had written some beautiful words but didn’t want to read them out loud to a room full of people, so the Best Man did the honours. Well done Molly! The meal was served and afterwards there was a little time for everyone to relax outside as the Band set up for the evening celebrations. A sunset was on the cards and Dana and Jim wanted to do a few other pictures as well. Dana and Jim cut their Wedding Cake before their First Dance. After the Tower night shot we left Dana and Jim to continue dancing to the superb Band Three Mile Hill. Thank you Dana and Jim for the ‘extra’ you put into your pictures on your Wedding Day.

It was lovely day when we met Paula and Jason again in the Autumn last year for their Pre-Wedding photo-shoot. Our arranged meeting point was The Beth Chatto Gardens, Colchester. Deciding to take some pictures of Paula and Jason first we started our wander around the superb gardens. We were spoilt for choice with the variety of different areas and made full use of them. Happy with the pictures we took we then went for a coffee and a cake and had a chat with Paula and Jason about their Wedding at Fennes in the Spring this year.

Pre-Wedding Photoshoot for Hannah & Daniel

Pre-Wedding photoshoot – Hannah and Daniel came to see us one evening a few weeks before their Wedding in the Autumn last year. Once we had filled in the details of their Wedding Day and had a nice chat about their plans, we went out for a pre-wedding photoshoot. We have known Hannah for some years now and Daniel since he has been on the scene and we are really looking forward to being a part of their Wedding Day. The ‘Blog’ of their Wedding at Marks Hall, Coggeshall, will be coming up soon. Another lovely couple to work with!

Stacey and Jonathan chose the wonderful Wedding Venue Leez Priory for their Wedding. Our day started at Leez Priory with Stacey and the girls getting ready at the Fisherman’s Cottage. Preparations were going well and once the make-up and hair were finished we were on the move! Stacey was going to put on her Wedding Dress and do the final preparations upstairs in the main house. Whilst this was going on, David went off to find Jonathan and his Groomsmen to capture a few final preparation and ready shots. Once Stacey and the Bridesmaids were dressed, they were joined by Bob, the Bridesman for a few pictures. Guests were making their way over to the Tower where the Ceremony was going to take place. Being such a lovely day, the Ceremony was going to be outside. With the meeting with the Registrars over, the Bridesmaids led the way followed by Stacey and her Father to the Ceremony. Following the Ceremony, Stacey, Jonathan and their Wedding Guests enjoyed the Drinks Reception. After a little while, we took the requested family pictures. Giant garden games kept the guests entertained during the afternoon. We took some Bridal Party pictures in front of Leez Priory later on and then had some time to take Stacey and Jonathan’s together pictures around the grounds. After the ‘everybody’ picture it was time to move to the Coach House. The Speeches followed their Wedding Breakfast. It was a glorious evening so the Guests enjoyed walking around the grounds, playing the games or just generally socialised in the grounds. They cut their cake and moved onto the dance floor which was set up outside for Stacy and Jonathan’s First Dance. There was a lovely ambience together with a lovely setting for their First Dance. Just before we left we took a coupe of evening pictures in front of Leez Priory to finish our coverage of their Wedding. A great day!

Priory Hall Wedding Photography for Sarah & Ian

We arrived at Sarah’s Parents’ home in the morning of Sarah and Ian’s Wedding Day. Hair and Make-up was in the finishing stages so we got on with taking a few pictures and a few pictures of Sarah’s accessories etc.

Once Sarah, her Bridesmaids, Parents and Brother were ready we went outside for some pictures. The sun was shining and we all wanted to make the most of the weather. We left then to travel to Ipswich School which was the Venue for the Wedding Ceremony.

We met with Ian and his Groomsmen and took a few pictures of them before too many of the Guests arrived. Just as we had finished their pictures a few spots of rain fell so the Guests quickly made their way into the School. The Bridesmaids arrived and waited for Sarah to arrive which wasn’t long after. Under the shelter of brollies we all made our way inside.

Sarah and Ian were to be married in the splendid Chapel so when it was time Sarah took her Father’s arm and made her entrance. After the Ceremony Sarah and Ian led their Guests outside, the rain which was predicted to last all afternoon, had stopped! We quickly got on with taking the requested group pictures as we had a lovely backdrop. During this time our fingers were crossed the weather would hold out. Phew! We managed to take the pictures and the confetti pictures as well.

It was at this point our luck ran out! Off we all went for the Wedding Reception at Priory Hall, Hadleigh. Sarah and Ian wanted a few pictures outside when we arrived at Priory Hall so we took these straight away with the aid of some brollies but you would hardly know it was pouring! As the Guests arrived they enjoyed the Drinks Reception inside Priory Hall together with Sarah and Ian.

Whilst they were mingling we took some informal pictures as well as some requested other pictures. The Wedding Breakfast was held in the Marquee . After the main course it was time for the Speeches to take place. We managed to take Sarah and Ian outside as there was a break in the weather for some night shots later on. The evening celebrations were held in the main hall and a little later Sarah and Ian had their First Dance. Soon after we left them to continue the celebrations. Sarah, you smiled all day long despite some challenging moments, thank you.. A lovely day!

Layer Marney Wedding Photographer for Clare & Michael

It was a lovely day for the Wedding of Clare and Michael at Layer Marney Tower, Colchester. Clare was getting ready at her home so that is where we started our coverage. On our arrival we were met by Clare, her Mother and the Bridesmaids. Everybody was happy and relaxed with preparations well in hand. After taking a picture of the girls in their Dressing Gowns with the Champagne, it was time for them to get dressed. The Bridesmaids looked wonderful in their Poppy Red Bridesmaid dresses, with Clare looking amazing in her Wedding Dress. After taking a couple of pictures inside as it was dry and warm we all went outside for a few more. Leaving them we made our way to Layer Marney Tower, Layer de la Haye. Michael was there, looking very smart in his uniform, with his Best Man and Ushers. We had time to take some pictures before the Registrars needed Michael before the Ceremony. The Layer Marney Double Decker Bus arrived with some of the Guests so we took a few pictures as they arrived. The Guests made their way to the Corsellis Room and it wasn’t long before Clare arrived in the Layer Marney vintage Rolls Royce.

Clare took her Father’s arm and made her way into the Corsellis Room. After the Ceremony, Clare and Michael went for a ride in the car whilst their Guests enjoyed the Drinks Reception outside in the grounds of Layer Marney. Clare and Michael returned a little later and arrived at the bottom gate. They walked up the path towards the Tower as their Guests took pictures of them from the top of the steps. Following spending some time with their Guests during the Drinks Reception we got on with the requested family pictures. After a break we then took Clare and Michael for a quick walk around the Layer Marney grounds. This included going to the lake and the barn, ending up with some nice pictures. Clare and Michael were showered with confetti on the stairs before then going into the Long Gallery for the Wedding Breakfast. After the meal it was time for the Speeches. Some great reactions! Afterwards, whilst the Long Gallery was being arranged for the evening celebrations, Guests socialised outside and during this time we took some informal pictures. Clare and her Bridesmaids wanted a couple of pictures on the bus, which we took before it was time to go back into the Long Gallery for the dancing. After the happy couple cut their Wedding Cake and they took to the dance floor for their First Dance. A couple of night pictures ended our coverage of Clare and Michael’s Wedding Day. A great day and a joy to work with such a lovely couple.

Family Portraits Billericay Essex

As always it was lovely to go and see Sarah and Will again. This time it was to meet the newest addition to their family, Freddie. We were the Wedding Photographers for Sarah and Will’s Wedding at Prested Hall, Kelvedon a few years ago and then took some family pictures in 2014 after their daughter, Harriet, was born. They now wanted to update their family pictures to include Freddie which we were more than happy to do. The pictures of Harriet and Freddie, both individually and together worked well, a little more challenging at as a family! Still we did it! Looking forward to the next time as well! We really must thank Sarah and Will for recommending us both for Weddings and Family Pictures. we have lost count of how many jobs they have got us!

We took some pre-wedding pictures in the summer last year of Katie & William and this was a good chance to talk about their Wedding. The wedding is to be held at the wonderful Fennes in the Spring of this year. After talking for a little while we then went out for a short while to take some pictures of them. Some nice pictures and we are looking forward to their forthcomingWedding at The Fennes Estate.
