  • COVID-19 distanced Portrait

COVID-19 distanced Portrait of Sue and Ollie the Collie! We met Sue and went for a walk with Ollie to an outdoor location near our studio.

Sue wanted some pictures of herself with Ollie which she had been unable to achieve. We generally prefer the effects of a longer lens for portraits, COVID-19 just makes sure we use it and keep back.

We have worked with Sue for some years at Fennes, where she is one of the Wedding co-ordinaters.

Of course we couldn’t resist a portrait of Ollie also.

    Essex Pet Portraits

Essex Pet Portraits has been keeping us busy over the winter.

We have been photographing many pets, dogs, cats and horses.

Some are older animals which provides the owner with a lasting memory for when the sad but inevitable day arrives.

We love our pets so much, a beautiful canvas or framed print can stay with you forever. Most pets are photographed at or near their owner’s home.

Some of the other work we get involved in is PR photography, mostly local, occasionally other areas in South-East England. This was a job for a Construction Company who are promoting to enlist Apprentices. Joel has been through the system and was selected to be the role model. The site was the old Warley Hospital which has now been redeveloped into high quality apartments and houses. The brief was to incorporate the subject with the beautiful buildings both in his PPE site clothing and business suit. PR Photography Essex

Layer Marney Wedding Photography for Teri & Robert

It was a beautiful day for Layer Marney wedding photography for Teri and Robert. Teri was getting ready at her Parents’ house, where our coverage started. With just Teri and her Parents at home it was nice to be able to take our time a little bit more with all the pictures.  Everything was going well and once Teri was in her Wedding Dress, we went downstairs and into the lounge for a few bridal portraits.Layer Marney Wedding PhotographyHappy with what we had taken we then left them and went to Layer Marney. We met with Robert and his Groomsmen and walked around to the front of the tower for their pictures. The Bridesmaids and Flowergirls had arrived and were awaiting the arrival of Teri who was being driven by Graham in the Layer Marney car. Robert and his Groomsmen made their way upto the Corsellis Room.  Teri arrived and we took a few pictures of her with the Bridesmaids and Flowergirls before the Ceremony.  Afterwards Teri and Robert went for a short drive in the Layer Marney car whilst their Guests enjoyed the Drinks Reception. After a short while the Guests waited on the steps for Teri and Robert as they returned and walked up the path to the Tower. Making sure the happy couple  have time to socialise and enjoy the Drinks Reception is always important and this is where we capture a few nice informal pictures of the guests. Taking the requested family pictures happened a little later before we took Teri and Robert for a short walk around Layer Marney, including the barn and lake.Layer Marney Tower Wedding PhotographerTeri & Robert wanted a relaxed wedding that they and their guests could enjoy together with a few ‘professional photographs’ – it is always a pleasure to deliver what is requested!
Recommended Wedding Photographer Layer Marney TowerTeri and Robert chose to have their Speeches before the start of the Wedding Breakfast so they could fully relax and enjoy themselves. This worked well. Afterwards whilst waiting for the band to set up Guests took a stroll around the grounds or stayed and chatted in the Long Gallery. Later after cutting their Wedding Cake and having their First Dance, Teri and Robert were lucky enough to get a lovely sunset. Layer Marney Wedding PhotographerWe then left then to enjoy the rest of their evening with their Guests and took our leave.  A wonderful day of Layer Marney wedding photography with a lovely couple!

  • 35 Years of Professional Wedding Photography

35 Years of Professional Wedding Photography

35 Years ago David photographed his Professional wedding assignment. In those days it was film so it had to be correct straight off, no digital “check it on the screen” and “can you correct that in Photoshop!!”

Jeannette and Martin were married at Braintree Register Office on 1st August 1981 and if I remember correctly it cost them about £45. It was shot on 35mm Kodak film on a Nikon FM (manual exposure, manual focus) with just a 50mmm lens.  We still have the negatives on file and all of the 1950 weddings we have photographed since then! Congratulations to Jeannette and Martin who are still married and now live in Bristol, we are still great friends. Thank you again to them, for having the faith to book in the first place!

  • 2016 Witham Mayor Portrait

    2016 Witham Mayor Portrait

We have just created the 2016 Witham Mayor Portrait, which as ever is a great local honour.

Patrick Horner is the 18th consecutive Mayor of Witham, Essex, that David has created the Mayor’s Portrait for. Maybe we should call it a coming of age!! Eighteen years ago the brief was to closely match the previous portraits and we have kept the background especially for this job! Witham Art & Framing Centre  provide the framing and they know which frame and mount to use. This keeps the run of portraits looking consistent.

    Crabbs Barn Photography Testimonial

    Hi David and Sandra,

We received our beautiful photos yesterday. Thank you so much, they are absolutely fantastic! We are really pleased with them and can’t wait to share them with our friends and family. To capture an unwell, over tired Alfie smiling in several photos was nothing short of a miracle!
You were great on the day: professional, friendly and helped to make our wedding flow beautifully!
    Thanks once again.
    Sarah and Paul xx

All we can add to that is what a lovely couple to work with on a chilly February night!!
