  • Melissa & Neil's Wedding Photography at Layer Marney

Essex wedding photographers Layer Marney ColchesterDespite a change in the weather for Melissa & Neil’s Wedding everybody had a great day.  We met Melissa and her Bridesmaids at Charlie Browns in Colchester, where the girls were having fun in their preparations for the big day.  On arrival at Layer Marney Tower we took the guys’ pictures outside, but at the time Melissa arrived, the rain had started again.  After the Civil Ceremony the Guests were very co-operative whilst we arranged the family pictures outside the Corsellis Room before they went for their Reception drinks.  Fortunately, we were able to get outside as the rain stopped to get some essential pictures of the Tower with Melissa and Neil.  Whilst the room was being cleared for the evening we created a few relaxed pictures of the couple by the lake and in the barn and finished with some dancing pictures.

  • Nikon D3s review

As part of making sure our clients receive the best quality we have just taken delivery of a Nikon D3s camera. I have been using D3 for the last 3 years with over 160,000 exposures and am delighted with what it does, so why upgrade? Well Sandra has been using a Nikon D300 and that is the camera that is actually being replaced.

Is the Nikon D3s an upgrade to D3? We took the new camera to do a few test shots when we photographed a wedding at Gosfield Hall, Essex last weekend and we have been simply stunned at the quality of the files and the reduced mechanical noise, which as wedding photographers helps us being discreet.

Proof of file quality  – watch this space!

  • Wedding Photography for Amy & Patrick

All Saints Church, Writtle, Essex, was the setting for the Wedding of Amy & Patrick.  The Reception was held at The Reid Rooms, Margaret Roding, Dunmow, in glorious summer sunshine.  Amy & Patrick wanted a relaxed wedding and enjoyed a good amount of time mingling with their Guests.  We were able to take some lovely portraits of the couple around the courtyard and gardens of the Reid Rooms without them being away from their Guests for too long.

  • 800 wedding pictures!!

This week we met with one of our couples from last year and they were telling us how their friends who had used other photographers, gave them 800 wedding pictures to choose from, whereas our couple had under 350!  They went on to say that of the 800, most repeated FOUR times so in fact there were really only about 200, and they were not that good!  Whovever you book do check what the big claims really mean, ask to see whole, real weddings, ask for testimonials and references if you are unsure.

  • Wedding of Suzanne & James

Suzanne & James were married on a very hot day at Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel, Suffolk.  After the Ceremony, whilst their Guests were relaxing and enjoying themselves, the happy couple and ourselves, went for a ride on the golf  buggys to the lake to take some photographs.  Suzanne and James then spent some time mingling with their Guests before we took a few traditional group pictures.  A superb light and pyrotechnic show for the couple’s first dance, provided by www.yourweddingdisco.com, enabled us to get some amazing atmospheric images.Wedding photos Suffolk

  • Valley Green FC / Little Havens Hospice

It was a great to be asked to again photograph the Valley Green FC presentations for the 2009- 2010 season.

Having found that the Fun Day and presentations were raising funds for Little Havens Children’s Hospice we chose to donate 100% of our fee and costs.

  • Is the person photographing your Special Day qualified to do so?

Our good friend (and competitor!) Dave Court has put up a blog that we wholly agree with:-

    http://www.courtoncamera.co.uk/blog/?p=548

We hear so many similar tales of poor photography and bad service .

Should you choose to use photographers other than us, please make sure they are Qualified members of M.P.A. or B.I.P.P. If you use a member of another organisation they could well be part-timers. “Why is this a problem?” you may say, but what would happen if their boss insisted they had to go into work on YOUR wedding day? It’s your choice, they are your wedding memories!

  • Wedding of Jennifer & John

Jennifer and John booked us to photograph their Wedding at Channels Golf Club, Chelmsford, Essex.  Jennifer got ready for her Wedding in the Lodge then walked the short distance to the thatched Essex Barn for the Ceremony.  Following the  Civil Ceremony Jennifer and John appreciated the hot day whilst relaxing with their Guests during the drinks reception,  After the Wedding Breakfast it was lovely to spend time with the happy couple creating some beautiful pictures of them together, in the soft early evening light.  Thank you to Laura and Katie for assisting us, it was very much appreciated.

  • Wedding Photography for Helen & Matthew at Marks Hall

We had the pleasure of being the Essex Wedding Photographers for the Wedding of Helen and Matthew.  Our day started at the Bride’s house where the warm weather allowed us  to take some pictures in garden.  After the church service at St Michael’s, Copford, and as Helen and Matthew exited the church, they were greeted by a bagpipe band, a surprise for Matthew!  The Reception was held at the lovely Coach House, Marks Hall, Coggeshall.  The walled garden and the formal gardens provided us with some nice backdrops.
